US, Japan push for a trade deal following failed Pacific Partnership

(VOVWORLD) - US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said in a meeting on Friday in Washington that they will increase cooperation towards a free and open Indo-Pacific region.

A Japanese senior official said the two governments will work together to ensure the success of upcoming G20 summit in Osaka. They agreed to seek a G20 negotiation on trade, digital economy, plastic waste, infrastructure investment, and women’s rights.

Trump and Abe also agreed to work with each other and South Korea to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.
