The magazine quoted US military officials saying that the move aims to bolster America’s presence in Afghanistan by the time the traditional fighting season begins in the spring. Drones will provide air support for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. The US will add more helicopters, ground vehicles, and artillery as combat operations against the Islamic State (ISIS) in Syria and Iraq dwindle.
