The classes were held by the US Mission in Vietnam, the Sports Envoy Program under the US Department of State and the Vietnam Paralympic Association.

The special event takes place as the Vietnam-US relationship has been upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership, says US Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Susan Burns.

Huynh Vinh, president of the Vietnam Paralympic Association, said that the training will equip coaches with professional training knowledge while improving athletic skills for people with disabilities and allow them to integrate into the community.

He noted that it will also help disabled athletes to learn training methods to improve their performances when competing at international tournaments.

During the training course, the US experts will help Vietnamese coaches and athletes gain a better understanding about Paralympic rules, maintain their health, prevent injuries, and introduce swimming techniques.
The class will run until Friday.
