Senior officials close to negotiations said on Thursday that a delegation of Iraqi officials managed to secure a waiver just as the previous 45-day waiver expired. The temporary relief from the sanctions provides additional time for Iraq to find a way to pay Iran for imports of natural gas and other energy in denominations other than the USD to avoid the sanctions.
