(VOVworld) – US President Barack Obama said Thursday that the US and Gulf countries pledged to fight Islamic State (IS) and de-escalate other conflicts in the region.

In his remarks at the closing ceremony of the US - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Mr. Obama said the US and GCC are allies in fighting IS and the US will enhance security cooperation with GCC countries, including aiding them to strengthen their defense capacity to cope with regional threats. He said that concerns remain about Iran and economic issues, including oil prices.
