(VOVworld) – Vietnam appreciates the US Agency for International Development’s support for Vietnam to combat avian influenza and other pandemic threats.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vu Van Tam made the statement at a ceremony in Hanoi on Wednesday to sign a project on “Risk Mitigation and Management of Human Health Threats along Animal Value Chain”.

The 2.1 million USD project is funded by the USAID via the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) through which the USAID has helped Vietnam prevent and control avian influenza as part of the avian and pandemic influenza (API) program and the ‘Emerging Pandemic Threats (EPT) program.
