According to a White House statement, all the parties agreed on additional sanctions against Russia at a meeting between President Barack Obama, his National Security Advisor Susan Rice, and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton. They agreed on the importance of imposing additional sanctions on Russia due to its continuous efforts to destabilize Ukraine. Meanwhile, there were differences among US politicians on President Obama administration’s sanctions plan. Many US congressmen said that, instead of economic sanctions against Moscow, Washington should increase military aid to Ukraine’s interim government.
