(VOVworld) – The United States celebrated its Independence Day on July 4^th under tight security after the bloody attacks in Iraq, Turkey, and Bangladesh. More than 2.000 policemen were deployed in patrol duty in New York City, and 5.000 patrolled Chicago.

Many traditional activities were underway during the day like fireworks, parades, baking competitions and camping. More than 10.000 people participated in the jovial atmosphere at a music-packed party by country music legend Willie Nelson at the Formula One race track in Austin City, Texas, and many others enjoyed the colonial-era costumed actors reading the Declaration of Independence at the US’s National Archives in Washington. At the White House, the fireworks and camping activities were canceled due to the weather. Rapper Kendrick Lamar and singer Janelle Monae’s performances took place at the Eastern Room of the White House for US military officials’ families, government officials, and President Barack Obama’s guests.
