(VOVworld) – A spokeswoman for the US State Department, Jen Psaki has reiterated that Washington doesn’t accept China’s air corridor as set out in its new air defence zone. She said China’s Air Defense Identification Zone, or ADIZ, is confusing and was likely to increase the risk of accidents.

Psaki insisted that Beijing’s unilateral announcement would not change US military exercises in this region, referring to an overflight by two American B-52 bombers last week, which was not notified to the Chinese authorities.

The spokeswoman said the announcement was publicized without "prior consultations," adding that the flight crossed over the disputed island, called Senkaku by Tokyo and Diaoyus by Beijing.

Against the background of these sensitive developments in Japan, China, and South Korea, the American Vice President Joe Biden arrived in Japan as part of his tour of the three Asian nations. White House spokesperson Jay Carney said that the US remained "deeply concerned" about China's new air defense zone. He added the visit was a chance for Washington to highlight the importance of avoiding actions that could raise tensions and prevent miscalculations that could undermine peace, security and prosperity in the region.
