(VOVWORLD) - The United States on Monday called for full enforcement of UN sanctions on North Korea as the two Koreas move to establish rail and road links across their border.

A spokesperson for the State Department said the US expects all member states to fully implement UN sanctions, including sectoral goods banned under UN Security Council resolutions, and expects all nations to take their responsibilities seriously to help end North Korea’s illegal nuclear missile programs.

The State Department spokesperson quoted South Korean President Moon Jae-in as saying that the improvement of relations between North and South Korea cannot advance separately from ending North Korea's nuclear program.

US Special Representative for North Korea Stephen Biegun plans to visit Moscow, Paris, and Brussels for working meetings with his counterparts ahead of a possible second Trump-Kim summit.
