US Marines lower their flag during a handover ceremony

(VOVworld) – US Marines and British troops ended their combat operations in Afghanistan on Sunday. The timing of their withdrawal has not been announced for security reasons. Some 12,500 foreign troops will still be in Afghanistan as of January, 2015, for training and consultation activities. The Marine Expeditionary Brigade-Afghanistan and British troops at Camp Bastion will be the last US and British troops to withdraw from Afghanistan.
