It has been two months since President Joe Biden announced a plan to share vaccines globally. The White House says most of the 110 million doses were shared through the COVAX facility. In June, Biden pledged to donate 500 million doses of Pfizer to 92 lower-income countries, of which 200 million doses will be provided this year and 300 million doses will be distributed in the first half of next year.

Between now and the end of the year, Belgium will donate 4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to COVAX, which is backed by the World Health Organization (WHO). These vaccines will be sent to the Western Balkan countries, and to countries in Eastern Europe, Southern Europe, and Africa. Belgium's fourteen development cooperation partners are vaccine priorities.
