During the summit, the three leaders will discuss the expansion of trilateral cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and beyond, which includes strengthening ties with ASEAN and the Pacific Islands.

The leaders will advance a shared vision for addressing global and regional security challenges, promoting a rules-based international order, and bolstering economic prosperity. 

This will be the first standalone summit between the leaders of the US, Japan, and South Korea, though they have held trilateral meetings on the sidelines of international conferences and other occasions. Their most recent meeting took place in May in Hiroshima during the G7 summit.
