(VOVworld) – On Sunday, US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya for talks with leaders of the East African nations focusing on regional security and extremism.

On Monday, Mr. John Kerry and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta discussed regional security, extremism, and efforts to restore peace in South Sudan, and stability in Somalia and Burundi. The two leaders also talked about Kenya’s presidential election to be held next August. On the same day, Mr. Kerry also met with his counterparts from Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Sudan, Djibouti, Tanzania, Somalia, and Ethiopia to discuss measures to prevent South Sudan from plunging into civil war and promote the transitional peace process in Somalia. On Tuesday, Mr. John Kerry will arrive in Abuja for talks with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.
