Proposed by the US, the UK, and France, the resolution quotes the commitment the Taliban made last Thursday that Afghanis will be able to travel abroad and leave the country by air or ground. The Council also called for more humanitarian assistance for Afghanistan and full, safe, unhindered access for the UN and its agencies.
The resolution reaffirmed the importance of upholding human rights, especially for women, children, and minorities, and encouraged all parties to reach a political solution via peace talks with the equal participation of women.
