Addressing the session on Tuesday, Ambassador Pham Hai Anh, Chargé d’Affaires at the Vietnamese mission to the UN, called for more dialogues and trust building measures among related parties and expressed concern about difficulties facing the Syrian people in the context of prolonged instability and challenging humanitarian situations. He said Vietnam has closely watched the development in Somalia’s general elections and expected related parties to reach a consensus about the timing for the elections and other pending issues. He asked the UN and other international organizations to support Somalia in coping with humanitarian challenges due to the Covid pandemic impact and natural disasters.
