The program, the first national-level one on this issue in Vietnam, is aimed at making the internet a healthy and safe place for children to learn, socialise and express themselves. It also helps to protect the privacy of children and prevent and handle acts of abuse.

UNICEF expects that under this program, the Vietnamese government will coordinate with the information, technology and communication sectors to keep up with constant changes to better protect children from new risks and adverse impacts while ensuring that internet is always safe for children.

The private sector and social organizations should be encouraged to develop information security solutions to protect children on the internet, said UNICEF.
