At a working session on Wednesday with Nguyen Van Phuong, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Azoulay called for more regular restoration, promotion, and preservation of Hue’s heritage sites and insisted that UNESCO will help the province preserve and promote its traditional cultural heritage.

Phuong said that over the years, Thua Thien-Hue has always paid attention to preserving and promoting its heritage and cultural identity, and he hopes for closer cooperation with UNESCO in the future.

The Hue Monuments Complex was the first World Cultural Heritage site named in Vietnam after Vietnam joined UNESCO. In the 30 years since UNESCO’s recognition, 200 heritages have been restored, repaired, or embellished, strictly complying with the International Convention on the Conservation of Monuments, the Law on Cultural Heritage, and regulations on the preservation and restoration of historical and cultural relics and scenic spots.
