(VOVworld)- The UN Women Executive Board wrapped up its visit to Vietnam on Friday. During the visit, the delegation discussed with relevant Vietnamese ministries and agencies Vietnam’s achievements and the UN Women’s assistance for Vietnam in enhancing gender equality and women’s rights.

The delegation also discussed with local authorities in Da Nang and Hue efforts to prevent violence against women and girls and women’s role in coping with climate change. Speaking to reporters in a press conference in Hanoi on Friday, the President of UN Women Gonzalo Koncke Pizzonor, who is also Resident Representative of the Uruguay delegation to the UN, said that the visit aimed at helping the delegation better understand the cooperation between UN Women and the Vietnamese government in enhancing gender equality and women’s rights. He said the UN Women agency will continue assist the Vietnamese government in implementing commitments on gender equality and enhancing women’s rights with special priority given to vulnerable girls.
