(VOVworld) - The UN Security Council on Saturday welcomed the formation of a new government in Yemen, and urged all parties and political actors to unite behind President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi, Prime Minister Khaled Bahah, and the new cabinet to keep the country on the path to stability and security. EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said on Saturday in a statement that the formation of a new government in Yemen was a critical step in efforts for transition. Mogherini, who is EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, said it was now important for all political actors to engage constructively to support the new cabinet to implement decisive reforms for the benefit of all Yemenis, and take action to improve fiscal sustainability and fight corruption in the public administration. She added the EU is committed to continue supporting Yemen in its transition," calling on the Constitutional Drafting Committee to quickly deliver a draft Constitution.

Meanwhile, Yemen's former president Ali Abdullah Saleh on Saturday rejected Security Council sanctions imposed on him for obstructing peace - and his party walked out of the newly formed cabinet.
