Several Arab foreign ministers urged the UN Security Council on Wednesday to take the necessary steps to refer those responsible for the violence in Syria to the international court of justice. In a statement issued following the Arab League’s (AL) 138th regular foreign ministers meeting in Cairo, the bloc denounced the use of heavy weapons to shell populated areas, considering it a crime against humanity. The council also called on the head of the Arab Ministerial Committee, and the Qatari prime minister to keep contact in with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon. They along with UN-AL joint special representative for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi will look at ways the mission can progress in the light of recent developments. Al Arabi said he wanted to form a government that reflected all of Syrian, adding that any struggles should be settled using political solutions.
