Resolution 2712 called for urgent and extended humanitarian pauses and corridors in Gaza for a sufficient number of days to allow full, rapid, safe, and unhindered access for UN agencies and partners. The resolution emphasized the need to facilitate the continuous, adequate supply of essential goods and services to Gaza, including water, electricity, fuel, food, and medical supplies.

Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths, implored Israel to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza via the Kerem Shalom crossing in Israel as part of a 10-point plan to respond to the population's needs.

The Foreign Ministries of Jordan, Egypt, Iran, and many other countries issued statements condemning Israel attack campaign in Gaza that has killed thousands of civilians.

Hamas has reportedly agreed to a deal that would release 50 hostages being held in Gaza in exchange for a three-day pause in fighting. According to the Jerusalem Post, Israel has not yet accepted the agreement. Negotiations, mediated by the Qataris in coordination with the US, continue.

The deal, in addition to a ceasefire, would have Israel release Palestinian women and children being held prisoner in Israel and allow more humanitarian goods to be transported into the Gaza Strip.
