The UN Chief said the attacks are particularly despicable because they aimed at civilians who were preparing for celebrations to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Expressing his deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, the Saudi government and its people, the UN Secretary-General said he hopes that those responsible for the crimes will be identified and brought to justice. He stressed the need to intensify regional and international efforts to prevent and combat terrorism.
