UN leaders commend Vietnam’s active role, contributions

(VOVWORLD) - UN leaders have lauded Vietnam’s active engagement and constructive contributions to the global organization while receiving Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, who will soon conclude his tenure as Vietnam’s Permanent Representative to the UN.

President of the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly Philemon Yang  congratulated Vietnam on its impressive socio-economic and diplomatic achievements.

He praised Vietnam’s role and contributions across the UN’s three pillars—peace and security, sustainable development, and human rights promotion.

Yang also extended sincere thanks to the Vietnamese Mission and Ambassador Giang for their steadfast support for the General Assembly President’s agenda and priorities.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed high regard for Vietnam’s growing role in the UN, and Ambassador Giang’s personal efforts in fostering cooperation and consensus at the UN.

He noted that the country’s recent initiatives have received broad support from member states, reflecting their relevance to global concerns and their contribution to promoting multilateralism.

The UN chief reaffirmed his intention to visit Vietnam again, expressing his hope that relations between the UN and Vietnam will continue to grow, with Vietnam further enhancing its position at UN forums.
