(VOVworld)- The UN General Assembly adopted Thursday a resolution, compiled by Russia and 37 other countries, to mark the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. Russia's permanent representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin said that the resolution reminds that the allies’ victory over Nazism had created conditions for the establishment in 1945 of the United Nations Organization to prevent wars and to save succeeding generations from disasters they bring. Churkin called on people not to forget the price the people had to pay for the war. He added that the common duty is to remember the bitter lessons of the war and the memory of the peoples, preventing the revision of history and attempts to rewrite it. The resolution called on 193 UN members to join hand to prevent any threat to world’s peace.
