(VOVworld) – The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with its presence in more than 170 poor and vulnerable countries, must rise to the challenge of advancing a “big, new, more complex, and transformational” sustainable development agenda. UNDP Administrator Helen Clark told a ministerial meeting on Wednesday to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its founding that the world has changed immeasurably in that time, and UNDP has changed with it. But the UNDP’s core mission remains more relevant than ever, she stressed, citing its mandate to support countries to eradicate poverty in a way which simultaneously reduces inequality and exclusion, while protecting the planet.

Speaking at the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations, reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to work closely with the UN Development Program (UNDP) to realize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She said Vietnam is strongly committed to working closely with UNDP and other UN agencies to make the SDGs a reality, and to build a more prosperous, fair and inclusive world for all.
