The United Nations called on the Houthis to ”cease all attacks against international shipping in the Red Sea”, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said, calling the attacks  “a risk to property, to life, to ecology in the area.”

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said the US will continue to monitor these reckless attacks in the Red Sea.

The British Embassy in Yemen’s capitol Sanaa called on the Houthis to stop their attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.

The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs called for diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and resolve the causes of the current conflict in the Middle East.

Following the attack, the ship’s crew were taken to Djibouti by the Indian Navy.

According to the True Confidence’s owners, there were 20 crew members aboard the ship – 15 Filipinos, four Vietnamese, and one Indian. The ship was carrying steel from China to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
