U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has urged Pyongyang on Friday to think again about its plan to launch a satellite with a long-range rocket, saying he was "seriously concerned" by Pyongyang's announcement. Meanwhile, the US said the plan could affect food aid programmes for the country. When Pyongyang’s media announced the launch -- scheduled to take place between 12 and April 16, the US, the Reppublic of Korea and Jana condemned it saying it was in breach of a U.N. Security Council resolution banning "any launch using ballistic missile technology”. A spokesperson for the US State Department Victoria Nuland said Pyongyang’s decision would put food aid on pause as it calls into question on the credibility of Pyongyang’s commitments. Seoul said the launch will be a provocative act threatening peace in the Northeastern Asian region while Japan calls on North Korea to halt the nuclear test.
