If the talks succeed, Britain will be the first member of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTTP) which does not border the Pacific Ocean. UK Minister of State for Trade Policy Greg Hands said there is no geographical restriction on Britain joining trade groups. Meanwhile, UK International Trade Secretary Liam Fox said it was too soon to talk about the possibility of UK joining the group.
