TV program commemorates 1968 Spring General Offensive

(VOVWORLD) - A live TV program marking 50 years of the 1968 Spring General Offensive and Uprising aired Sunday night. The program connected Reunification Palace, Tan Nhut commune, and Binh My commune, 3 locations in Ho Chi Minh City closely associated with the historic event.

People’s artist Tran Hieu said: “Today is very special. The glorious 1968 General Offensive took place when I was on the Laos battlefront. The campaign inspired me to sing with fire. I am very glad to be here to sing now.”

Military officers who fought in the General Offensive recalled those harsh but glorious days.

Soldier Pham Van Chi said: “I’m very proud to have taken part in the 1968 campaign with 4 combat operations in Saigon. 50 years have passed. The war was brutal and I am very moved.”
