Speaking at a press conference with his South Korean counterpart Moon Jae-in in Seoul on Tuesday as part of his tour of Asia, President Trump said he "hoped to God" he did not have to use the US military against Pyongyang.
The US leader has previously threatened "fire and fury" against Pyongyang.
Mr. Trump is on a five-nation tour of Asia, where North Korea's nuclear ambitions have been high on his agenda.
He is scheduled to meet US and South Korean troops in Camp Humphreys, the largest US military base in the country. He will deliver a speech to South Korea’s National Assembly on Wednesday.
