Trump said the tariff on imported cars will be 25%, while the tariff on semiconductors and pharmaceuticals, initially 25%, will increase after one year. He encouraged other countries to build manufacturing facilities in the US to avoid these taxes.
Earlier this month, Trump announced a 25% tariff on goods from Canada and Mexico, but delayed implementation for a month due to measures taken by both countries to curb drug trafficking into the US. He also imposed a 10% tariff on Chinese goods and a 25% tariff on all aluminum and steel imports. Trump also announced reciprocal tariffs on all US trading partners last week, but offered these countries an opportunity to negotiate alternative agreements.
