Last week, the US House of Representatives opened an impeachment inquiry to look into allegations that Trump leveraged military aid to Ukraine to pressure that country to investigate former Vice President and Trump’s political rival Joe Biden and his son for business ties to Ukraine. Mr. Trump said in a series of tweets that the coup intends to take away the Power of the People, their vote, and their freedoms.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused the Democratic chairs of three House committees of trying to "intimidate, bully, and treat improperly" five State Department officials called for depositions.
