Mr. Hue made his remark during a lunar new year visit to the Vietnam Garment and Textile Group (Vinatex) on Tuesday. He said that Vinatex surmounted the challenges caused by COVID-19 to record its best performance in 25 years with 2.5 fold growth in 2021.

“We should bear in mind that the garment and textile industry plays a crucial role Vietnam’s national economy and economic recovery in the 2022-2023 period," said Mr. Hue.

"It’s essential to recover the sector’s labor market by economic and financial measures and support packages and restructure production to fulfill orders on time with the highest quality right from the beginning of the year.”

National Assembly Chairman Hue asked Vinatex to focus more on the domestic market of 100 million people and build a brand for Vietnam’s fashion industry.

Vinatex is considered the best buying geography among the 27 leading apparel producing nations and territories in 2021, according to Mr. Hue.
