National Assembly Chairman and Secretary of the National Assembly Party Committee Tran Thanh Man and Prime Minister and Secretary of the Government Party Committee Pham Minh Chinh co-chaired a meeting on the agenda and program of the first session of the 16th National Assembly. Relevant agencies were urged to promptly review the situation and progress of preparations to ensure that the session will proceed smoothly with the highest quality and effectiveness.

Unlike usual practice, at this session, the Government will submit to the National Assembly for consideration and approval several key draft laws and resolutions. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said, “We need to make efforts, be responsible, and coordinate closely to ensure the successful organization of the session, creating a determined atmosphere from the beginning of the term, and promptly delivering the Resolution of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and other important resolutions of the Party Central Committee."
"Continue to effectively remove institutional bottlenecks and resolve obstacles. We must ensure the stable, smooth, and efficient operation of the two-tier local government,” according to Mr. Man.

The first session of the 16th National Assembly will open on April 6 and is expected to close on April 25. The planned program is divided into two phases. Phase 1 (April 6-11) focuses on personnel matters, state apparatus organization, and presentation of reports or proposals on socio-economic issues. Phase 2 (April 20-25) will discuss and decide socio-economic issues, the budget, and approval of draft laws.
