Top leaders of Vietnam, China exchange 2024 Lunar New Year greetings

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Chinese Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping on Friday exchanged greetings as the two countries prepare to celebrate  the 2024 Lunar New Year Festival.

In their greeting letters, the top leaders were delighted at the positive development trend and significant progress in relations between the two Parties and the two countries across all fields following the Vietnamese Party chief’s historic visit to China in October 2022 which took place immediately after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.  

They particularly valued the significance and diverse outcomes of the State-level visit to Vietnam by the Chinese Party and State leader in December 2023, especially the issuance of a joint statement on continued deepening and elevation of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries and the building of a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

They also praised the signing of 36 cooperation agreements which lay a strategic orientation for the long-term development of bilateral ties in the new period.  

Party General Secretary Trong expressed his wish that in 2024 all sectors, administrations, and localities of both countries will effectively implement the high-level agreements and common perceptions already reached and ensure a healthy, stable, extensive, substantive, and efficient relationship between the two countries for the development and interests of the two peoples and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.

Party leader and President Xi Jinping said he hopes that both sides will boost bilateral relations and promote high-quality exchanges and cooperation across channels, levels, and fields, thus providing further impetus for the cause of modernization of the two countries and making greater contributions to the cause of peace and progress of humanity.

The two leaders wished the Parties, States, and peoples of both countries peace, health and happiness in the year ahead, with Vietnam and China emerging with greater prosperity and development.
