In his video message sent to Thursday’s Global Call ahead of the Summit of the Future, Mr. Lam pledged Vietnam’s contributions to effectively implementing the Sustainable Development Goals to ensure that all citizens fully benefit from the fruits of development and to prepare for future generations.
The message was in response to the initiative of Nangolo Mbumba, the President of the Republic of Namibia, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Mr. Lam emphasized that the Summit of the Future, which will open on September 22, is an opportunity for the United Nations and multilateralism to affirm irreplaceable values in the face of the great challenges of the times.
“We expect this historic conference to bring new thinking and new approaches for the future of the world. This will be an opportunity for the United Nations and multilateralism to reaffirm their values in the face of the great challenges of our time. Vietnam will actively contribute to the conference and to the collective effort to strengthen peace, cooperation, and international solidarity in order to effectively achieve the sustainable development goals.”
He expected that the summit will work out a new mindset and new ways of doing things for the world's future and suggested focusing on transformational solutions, including science, technology and innovation transformation, green transformation, and global governance transformation.
