The top leader addressed the opening of the 10th National Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, attended by more than 1,000 delegates representing people from all social strata, ethnicities, and religions, armed forces, overseas Vietnamese, and Front officials at all levels. He emphasized great national unity is one of the key solutions to steer the country into a new era and praised the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
“With its recent achievements, the Vietnam Fatherland Front deserves its role as a political alliance, a voluntary union, and the political basis of the people's government. It is a core organization in promoting tradition and strength of the great national unity bloc and an important bridge between the Party and government and the people. The Front has promoted the People's mastery role in social life, represented and protected the legal and legitimate rights and interests of its members and the people.”

The top leader underlined what needs to be done to better perform the Front’s tasks. “The Front needs to play its core role well, preside over coordination with member organizations to unite all classes and outstanding individuals, highly promote the pioneering role of the working class, and awaken the potential of peasantry, intellectuals and workers, ensure high unity in awareness, ideology and action, and persist in socialist goals and ideals.”
General Secretary and President To Lam stressed the need to proactively engage in people-to-people foreign affairs activities, resolutely protect and maintain national independence, sovereignty, political and social stability, and build an increasingly prosperous and happy country.
The Front and its member organizations must do a better job of communications, education, and mobilization so that people understand, agree, and unanimously implement the Party's guidelines and the State's laws and policies, according to the top leader.
“The Vietnam Fatherland Front must be the nucleus in protecting the Party's ideological foundation,” he said.
