The Vietnamese Party leader passed away in Hanoi in July at the age of 80.
President Xi Jinping affirmed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was a steadfast Marxist and a great leader of the Party and people of Vietnam, who devoted his entire life to the Vietnamese revolution.
The Vietnamese leader guided the Party, State, and people of Vietnam to achieve significant accomplishments in building socialism, earning the support and admiration of the entire Party, army, and people.
"China always remembers the great contributions of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to promoting the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam as both comrades and brothers," said Xi.

Xi also stated that the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party steadfastly supports the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in uniting and leading the Vietnamese people on their path of development.
The Party, State, and people of China consistently support and believe that Vietnam’s cause of national renewal and socialism building will achieve even greater successes.
He said China is ready to join Vietnam in efforts to promote the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and the Vietnam-China community of shared future with strategic significance.
Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai thanked the Chinese leader for his kind sentiments and affirmed that the Party, State, and people of Vietnam always consider developing relations with China a top priority and a strategic choice.

On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Wang Huning, and many other senior Chinese leaders sent wreaths to commemorate the Vietnamese leader.
