The stone arch, which is 2.5 meters high and 8 meters long, was formed naturally millions of years ago when lava from the Gieng Tien volcano rapidly cooled upon contact with seawater and solidified into thick basalt layers.

These layers were eroded by the ocean waves and formed cracks over time, gradually turning into a natural stone arch that resembles a wasp’s nest.

The rough surface of To Vo Gate is evident of volcanic eruptions and cooling. The site has become a tourist magnet in Ly Son special zone.
