(VOVworld) - The Vietnam People’s navy celebrated its 60^th anniversary in Cam Ranh military port, Khanh Hoa province, on Saturday.

Speaking at the event, President Truong Tan Sang warned of complicated situations in the world and the region as well as more fierce territorial conflicts in the East Sea. He said this posed a challenging task for the Party, people and soldiers in promoting national construction and development while securing national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, peace and stability for national development: “Marine economy should be developed while securing national sovereignty in sea and islands, good combination between economic development, national defense and security, sea exploitation and protection, all people’s national defense and people’s war at sea, political, diplomatic and legal struggles and field activities in national unity. The Vietnam people’s navy is a backbone force with important role in sea and island sovereignty protection while securing long term peace and promotion of regional cooperation.”
