At a press briefing in Hanoi on Friday, the Association requested China immediately withdraw its oil rig from Vietnam’s waters and strictly implement the commitments outlined in international laws, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea which rejects any other countries rather than Vietnam to explore and exploit resources on the coast without the country’s clear agreement. It also urged the lawyers’ circle of the world to speak out to protect justice and international law, particularly the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
