(VOVworld) -  US Secretary of State John Kerry will hold talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh today as part of his visit to Vietnam. He will pay a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Kerry’s visit will focus on economic cooperation, which includes the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.

On Sunday, he visited Ngoc Hien district in Ca Mau province. He said that through the US Agency for International Development, the US will support Vietnam with a 17 million USD project to cope with climate change. Kerry said that there should not be negative impacts on the Mekong river in Southeast Asia as it is a world precious asset.

Washington committed to following this issue and will propose it for discussion at international forums in the coming years. Kerry also visited Duong Keo market in Tan An commune where he used to live during the war in Vietnam.
