Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg strongly criticized the killing, adding that Oslo is examining the authenticity of the information. Meanwhile, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hong Lei said Beijing was too shocked and is also investigating the information about the Chinese hostage.

IS claimed Wednesday that it planted "the bomb that downed the Russian airliner Airbus A-321" over Egypt's Sinai last month. However, they said targeting the Russian aircraft was not their "first choice." IS said it planned to attack airplane of a country in the US-led alliance which are taking in part in the air strike in Syria and Iraq. After realizing some security shortcomings at Sharm El-Sheikh international airport, IS changed their target to Russia.
