(VOVworld) - The 13th National Assembly (NA) concluded its 11th session in Hanoi on Tuesday after successfully fulfilling its agenda.

(VOVworld) - The 13th National Assembly (NA) concluded its 11th session in Hanoi on Tuesday after successfully fulfilling its agenda. In her closing speech, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that during the session lawmakers reviewed the implementation of the five-year socio-economic development plan from 2011 to 2015 and issued a resolution on the socio-economic development plans for 2016-2020.

Ms. Kim Ngan said: “In the next 5 years, we aim to ensure macro-economic stability, post year-on-year economic growth, boost economic restructuring in combination with renewing growth models, and improve productivity and economic efficiency and competitiveness. It is essential to boost administrative reform, thrift and waste reduction, while defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity. We must further integrate into the world and strive to develop Vietnam into an modern industrialized nation”.

The National Assembly made adjustments to Vietnam’s land use plan until 2020 and land use plan for 2016-2020 and approved 7 draft laws including the Law on Access to Information, the Press Law, and the Law on Child Protection, Care and Education.

Legislators heard reports on the National Assembly, National Assembly  agencies, the State President, the government, the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court, the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, and the State Auditor General.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan talked about personnel assignment for the new term: “The National Assembly relieved and reassigned key posts in line with Party guidelines and laws. For the first time, the National Assembly Chair, the President, the Prime Minister, and the Chief Justice swore oaths in front of the national flag, vowing absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, the people, and the Constitution, and vowing to do their utmost to fulfill their assigned tasks”.

The National Assembly urged the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Election Council, the government, and all administrations at all levels to prepare for the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and members of People’s Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure.

Ms. Kim Ngan reviewed the last term: “Each deputy should do his best to meet the voters’ aspirations and expectations. I hope that in the new term, the deputies will continue to devote their maximized effort to National Assembly activities and to the nation”.
