(VOVworld) - The Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre in Hanoi has set a record for being the only theatre in Asia offering daily live performances for 365 days a year.

Established in 1969, the theatre, which now has 30 main actors and actresses, first began offering monthly water puppet shows for audiences in 1990. The theatre subsequently changed to weekly and then to daily performances.

Almost all guided tours of Hanoi now include a show at the theatre. More than 2,000 performances are held each year, and the theatre stays open all 365 days.

The theatre has introduced the traditional art of water puppetry to audiences in more than 50 countries around the world.

This year, the theater had the honor of being awarded the First-class Labor Medal.

In August, the India-based Asian Book of Records declared two other Vietnamese records. Doctor Le Van Tri set a record for owning the largest number of patents in biology, and the Vietjet Aviation Joint Stock Company set a record for offering the largest number of in-flight cultural activities in Asia.
