(VOVworld)- Polling stations have opened in elections for the upper house of Thailand’s parliament. Voting began on Sunday in 77 provinces across the country and the polling units are to close at 3:00 p.m. local time. 77 members of the house will be elected representing the provinces nationwide and another 73 will be appointed by a committee of independent agencies. The vote comes a day after tens of thousands of demonstrators took to Bangkok's streets to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
