In Wednesday’s statement, Hibatullah Akhundzada said the  Taliban is committed to the signed agreement and urged Washington to end the war in Afghanistan and pave the way for US troops to exit the country.

US peace envoy Zalmay Khalilzad said he received a similar commitment to the internationally recognized bilateral agreement when he met Mullar Baradar, Taliban chief negotiator, in Qatar.

He highlighted the need to stop violence to avoid casualties for civilians and armed conflicts.

Earlier Zalmay said the Taliban’s attacks on the government forces outside cities were excluded in the agreement.
