Afghanistan’s authorities said last Saturday that Taliban insurgents killed at least 11 government soldiers in separate attacks on security posts in Paktia and Ghor province.
Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has ordered security forces to resume offensive operations against the Taliban and other insurgent groups.
The violence coincided with President Ghani and his rival Abdullah Abdullah signing a power-sharing deal to end a months-long political stalemate that has hampered progress towards peace.
