The strategy takes into account the growing importance of the Southeast Asian region of 11 countries, the fifth largest economy in the world.

The strategy sets to boost Switzerland’s relations with South East Asian countries in five areas: peace and security, economy-education-research, sustainable development, digital development, and providing quality services to Swiss citizens living in regional countries.

Switzerland will actively support Southeast Asia in realizing Sustainable Development Goals and increase its presence in multilateral forums, especially the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
